Circular Economy and Renewable Energy Park

The Circular Economy and Renewable Energy Park proposes itself as a strategy at urban scale for the integrated management of waste, the energy production, the environmental redevelopment of peri-urban agricultural fields and the regeneration of marginal areas.

The interest area lies on the ancient Po river paleo-riverbed, a landscape stretch characterised by considerable conflicts, where areas of high environmental value coexist with technological plants serving the city of Cremona.

Through a radical cultural rethinking, the project challenges the waste management model. Waste becomes a resource and a starting point for imagining a new urban trim, based on responsible and resilient choices oriented towards a synthesis among environmental, social and energy emergencies.

According to this vision, the ecological station takes on a new role: from a mere place for waste sorting, it becomes the “gateway” between the city and the Circular Economy Park, a true Eco-Gate acting as a hinge among citizens, nature, landscape and infrastructure. Processes sharing and transparency become prerequisites for triggering self-responsibility mechanisms and virtuous attitudes.

Energy infrastructure and environmental infrastructure contribute to shape the Park dedicated to circularity.

The energy facilities are designed to be redeveloped not only in terms of engineering and environmental efficiency, but also in the light of a specific architectural and landscape design: the goal is the definition of a unitary energy district, a true island for the energy production of the future.

The green and blue infrastructure is elected as a physical and ecological binder of the entire south-eastern sector of the city. The project fields a series of interventions to improve the ecosystem quality of the cities (woods quality and renaturation of existing canals) enhancing citizens psycho-physical well-being.v
