Two Pavilions-Restaurants in the Park

The project concerns the realization of two new restaurants located along the main street of Krasnodar, an industrial city in Ciscaucasian Russia. The two new buildings are configured as the head and tail of a long green-way, along which they are placed like two pavilions in the park. The language of the International Style (simplicity, formal cleanliness, rationality) is combined with references to local and Italian tradition. The first restaurant is conceived as a ship floating in the greenery: that is why it looks like a tendentially closed, intimate building, surrounded by trees.
A small tower, conceived as a modern totem for communication, counterbalances the horizontality of the building, configuring itself as the ideal counterpoint of the “cue”.
The second restaurant has been named “observatory” because, unlike the first one, it is conceived as an open elevated building, so that from the inside one can enjoy the view of the tree-lined boulevard and the local tulip fair, which takes place along the same promenade.
