“Cremona Po” Shopping Centre and Primary and Secondary Urbanization Works “ex-Feltrinelli Multifunctional Park”

The project involves the redevelopment and enhancement of the entire road system surrounding the area of the P.I.I. “Ex Feltrinelli Multifunctional Park”, so as not to generate congestion phenomena and to limit air and noise pollution. All the major road network has been placed at the edge of the area earmarked for settlements, so as to ensure maximum continuity among the different activities housed within the Park. It has been possible to permeate the different functions with the “connective system” of open spaces: squares, parks, bicycle and pedestrian paths.
The intervention also includes the enhancement of the service level of the urban ring road through the realisation of a trench by-pass below of the new intersection roundabout with S.S.415, so as to allow the flows separation in the north-south direction from those related to the interchange between the ring road and S.S. “Paullese”.
The project also arranges an EIA exclusion request with analysis on noise, pollution, traffic and landscape compatibility, which is followed by a series of visual and acoustic mitigation works aimed at mitigating conflicts between traffic flows and “sensitive targets” close to the intervention area.
Within this area the realisation of a building intended partly for a shopping center and partly for a multiplex cinema is planned. The project opts for a syntax devoted to essentiality and formal cleanliness, both at the volumetric compositional scale and at the detail scale. The use of elementary geometries in favour of a rediscovery of functionality in a “minimal” way is motivated on one side as a retrieval of the industrial “memory” of the area, on the other side, with the need to counterbalance the communicative “overabundance” of commercial activities. The building is designed according to the principles and technologies proper of bioclimatic architecture to maximize energy supplies from renewable sources.
